Latest innovations that are advancing forged automotive parts
The automobile industry has shifted from steamed power to electric power. Automobiles started the production of gasoline engines in late 1860 and early 1870. Slowly and steadily the production increased. With the increasing production, the competition kept increasing, so with the increasing competition, the company started to make more fast and stylish automobiles. The production of automobiles has now reached 70 million a year.
Entering into the 21st century makes it a more difficult task for the forged components manufacturer as the resources are depleting. So the companies are finding more effective ways to meet their targets. It is a challenge as the production each year is increasing and the resources are depleting. Decreasing resources are a challenge for the forging department. So the forged components manufacturer took some new innovations.
- Pre forming forgings: Pre forming forgings refer to the creation of parts using metal (especially aluminium), 3D printing. It helps the forged components manufacturer create lightweight, cheap and no resource wasted models. Before this technique came up the models were either created on paper or were created using resources. They used to create multiple models using the resources, which made it expensive and lead to wastage of resources. So this way now the resources are preserved and also the needs are met. Pre forming is further divided into two parts:
- Continuous preforming: under this, the forming is given a defined pre-shape in a single forming moment. The traditionally used preforming units are hydraulic and mechanical presses as well as cross rolls. It provides the advantage for the aluminium that this short process provides the cooling to the component and high cycles can be reached multiple times. But the disadvantage is that it limits the forming as it takes the instructions single time and in a single revolution.
- Discontinuous pre forming: it has an advantage over continuous forming that pre forming can be characterized multiple times and can have multiple forming moments. The equipment used is the reducer rollers. It also supports the mechanical and hydraulic process. The advantage is high degree forming. The disadvantage is that you have to reheat the work piece again and again during the main forging.
- Repair and reuse: The forged components manufacturers have now started to repair and reuse the old parts. This is more effective and economically better for companies. Forgers have made it an easy and socially acceptable way of reusing old parts. Repair and reuse basically refer to using the old parts that are in the garage molding them into fresher and better parts with the new adjustments in it.
- Rebuild and re manufactured: The forged components manufacturer has found one more effective way to preserve resources. Under this they rebuild the old metal objects like bullets, rings, hammerhead, etc. and manufacture the new parts for the automobiles. It usually costs less than what it costs to buy material for the new parts.
The change in technology and methods usually cost less, is socially acceptable, economically acceptable. Also helps the company increase its profit margins.
